Hi! I’m Nayanika, Agnya’s founder and chaos ringmaster. I’m so glad you found us.
In the 1990s my mother started a block printing textile studio in Kolkata, India called Kalakriti - a space filled with color, conversation, and possibility. Agnya began as a continuation of her story. Three decades later, we’re reviving the spirit of Kalakriti for a new generation together.
I was born and raised in India, where I spent the first part of my life immersed in the world of traditional Indian design. I spent the first few years of my career helping local artisans growing their sustainable, communal enterprises before traveling across the world to continue pursuing my love for all things design and innovation in America. Unfortunately, it didn’t take long to see that India’s place in global design had long been diminished, considering the depth of our archives.
A decade of living between cultures has shaped how I see design — an expression of my experience in both places, each providing a unique influence. Agnya is the bridge that ties these creative references together. We blend time-honored techniques like block printing and hand-knotting with our own bold patterns that speak the language of today.

In Sanskrit, AGNYA is the name of the sixth chakra - the space between our brows - from where intuition, imagination and creativity stem.
It represents the meeting point where all of our life experiences, memories, and contradictions merge into a singular perspective. For us, Agnya is both a state of mind and a way of creating.
Between the scroll and the noise, home is where we return to ourselves. Agnya is a reminder to build spaces with meaning, not just things. Beauty lives in a life that is layered, colorful, and imperfect — what we call Good Chaos. That’s the energy we want to bring into your home.
